अर्थातुराणां न सुह्रुन्न बन्धुः कामातुराणां न भयं न लज्जा |
विद्यातुराणां न सुखं न निद्रा क्षुधातुराणां न वपुर्न तेजः ||
अर्थ - धन संघ्रह में लिप्त व्यक्तियों का न कोई मित्र होता है और न वे अपने रिश्तेदारों से संपर्क रखते हैं.| कामातुर व्यक्ति को न किसी प्रकार का भय होता है और न अपने आचरण पर लज्जा होती है | विद्या व्यसनी व्यक्तियों को सुखमय जीव और निद्रा से वंचित रहना पड्ता है तथा भूखे व्यक्तियों का शरीर दुर्बल और तेज हीन होता है |
Arthaaturaanaaam na shrunna bndhuh kaamaaturaanaam na bhayam na lajjaa
Vidyaaturaanaam na sukham na nidraa kshudhaaturaanaam na vapurn na tejah.
Arthaaturaanaam = artha + aaturaanaam. Artha = money, wealth. Aturaanaam = obsesssed,
afflicted by. Na = not. Suhrunna = Suhrtuda +na. Suhruda = friend. Bandhu = relative.
Kaamaaturaanaam = Kaam + aaturaanaam. Kaam = sex. Kaamaatur = a person obsessed with
excessive sexual urge. Bhaya = fear. Lajjaa = shame, guilt. Vidyaaturaanaam = persons deeply involved in learning. Sukha = comfort, pleasure. Nidraa = sleep. Kshudhaa = hunger.
Kshudhaaturaanaam = persons suffering from hnger. Vapurn = Bapu +na. Vapu = body.
Tejah = aura, good appearance of the body.
i.e. Persons obsessed with becoming rich have no friends and relatives, and sex-starved persons
have no fear and any feeling of guilt for their actions. Those who are deeply involved in acquiring knowledge and learning never lead a comfortable lifestyle and sound sleep, and hungry and famished persons do not have a well structured body and good appearance.

ReplyDeleteI feel that greedy may be called arthatura. Then it would mean that greedy do not heed good-intentioned advise of well-wishers or relatives.
