अलोभः परमं वित्तं अहिंसा परमं तपः |
अमाया परमा विद्या निरवद्या मनीषिणां ||
अर्थ - लोभी न होना ही वास्तविक धन है और अहिंसा ही सर्वश्रेष्ठ तप है | माय मोह से दूर रहना ही श्रेष्ठतम विद्या है | इस प्रकार का आचारण कर के मनीषि और सज्जन व्यक्ति सदा दोष रहित जीवनयापन करते हैं और समाज में आदर प्राप्त करते हैं | |
Alobhah paramam vittam ahimsaa paramam tapah.
Amaayaa paramaa vidyaa nirvadyaa maneeshinaam.
Alobha = contentment, not being greedy. Paramam = highest, best. Vittam = money, wealth.
Ahimsaa = non-violance. Tapah = religious austerity. Amaayaa = not having any illusions.
Nirvadyaa = blameless, excellent. Maneeshinaam = learned and prudent persons.
i.e. Being content with one's lot and not being greedy is the best form of wealth, practising non-violence
is the best form of religious austerity, and not pursuing any illusions is the supreme knowledge. By practising all these virtues learned and prudent persons lead a blameless and happy life.
