Today's Subhashita.

Ekah putro varam vidvaanbahubhirnirgunnaistu kim.
Ekastaarayate vamshh anye samtaapakaarakaah.

Ekah = one.    Putro = son.     Varam = preferable, better.    Vidvaanbahubhirnirgunaistu = vdvaan +bahubhih + nirgunai + tu .    Vidvaan = learned.     Bahubhih = too many.   Nirgunaih = without any qualities and virtues.  tu = and.    Kim = what.   Ekastaarayate= ekah + taarayate.    Taarayate =carries on the tradition or name and fame  of ...   Vamshh = family dynasty.     Anye = others.   Samtaapkaarakaah + samtaap + kaarakaah.   Samtaap = grief.    Kaarakaah = causing.

i.e.      It is always preferable to have one learned and righteous son rather having too many sons without any virtues and qualities.   One learned son is capable of preserving  and continuing the tradition and good name of the family dynasty, whereas having many incompetent sons causes only grief and bad name to the family dynasty.
