Andhaa vidvajjanairheenaa mookaa kavibhirujjhitaa.
Badhiraa gaayanairheenaa sabhaa bhavati bhoobhrutaaam.
Andhaa = blind. daarkness Vidvajjanairheenaa = Vidvajjanaih +heena. Vidvajjanah = scholars, learned persons Heenaa = without. Mookaa = dumb. Kavibhirujjhitaa = Kavibhih +Ujjhitaa Kavibhih = poets. Ujjhitaa = abandonedfree from. Badhiraa = deaf. Gaayanairheenaa = Gaayanaih + heenaa. Gaayanaih = singers. ,Sabhaa = an assembly, court of a king. Bhavati = becomes. Bhoobhrutaam = Kings.
i.e. If a king's court (or an Assembly in present times) is without scholars, poets, singers and
other imminent persons, then it becomes like an assembly of blind, dumb and deaf persons.
( The status of any assembly of persons depends on the intellectual level of its participants. If among the participants there are no learned persons in various disciplines, poets and singers etc. then the level of interaction of such an assembly is very poor. This fact has been highlighted in this Subhashita by using a hyperbole, branding it as an assembly of blind, dumb and deaf persons.)
