Today's Subhashita.

अपि स्वल्पतरं कार्यं यद्भवेत्पृथिवीपतेः  |
तन्न वाच्यं सभामध्य प्रोवाचेदं वृहस्पतिः ||

अर्थ -    यदि राजा (शासक) का कोई  बहुत ही मामूली कार्य भी किसी
व्यक्ति को करना हो तो उसे इसकाउल्लेख कभी  भी समाज में (या
सार्वजनिक रूप से  )  नहीं करना चाहिये | यह  आदेश   किसी साधारण
व्यक्ति का न हो कर साक्षात देवगुरु वृहस्पति का  है |

(राजतन्त्र को चलाने के लिये गोपनीयता सब से  महत्त्वपूर्ण प्राथमिकता
होती है | इस सुभाषित में इसी तथ्य को प्रतिपादित किया गया है )

Api svalpataram kaaryam yadbhavetpruthiveepateh .
Tanna vaachya sabhaamadhye provaachedeva vruhaspatih.

Api = even.    Svalpataram= very insignificant or unimportant.
Kaaryam =  work, business.    Yadbhavetpruthveepateh = yat+
bhavet + pruthveepateh.      Yat = that.    Bhavet =  will happen
Pruthveepateh =   Kings or a Rulers.     Tanna = tam +na
Tam = him.     Na = not.     Vaachya = to be spoken or announced.
Sabhaamadhye = in an assembly of persons, in society.
Provaachedam = provaach + idam.     Provaach =  announced.
Idam = this.      Vruhaspatih = the high priest of Gods.

i.e.    If one is entrusted even an insignificant or unimportant task of
the King (or a Ruler) he should never disclose it in society  or an
assembly of persons.  This has been ordained by not an ordinary
person but by Vruhaspati ,the high priest of the Gods.

(  Maintenance of proper secrecy is one of the most important
pre-requisites of administration, which has been highlighted by this
Subhashita)
