Today's Subhashita.

अपुत्रत्वं भवच्छ्रेयो  न  तु स्याद्विगुणेः सुतः |
जीवन्नप्यSविनीतोSसौः  मृत एव   न संशयः ||

अर्थ -      एक गुणहीन पुत्र होने से तो पुत्रहीन  होना ही श्रेयस्कर है , क्योंकि जीवित
रहने पर भी ऐसा पुत्र  विनय रहित और दुर्व्यवहार करने वाला हो जाता है | इस में कोई
संशय नहीं कि ऐसे  पुत्र का मृत होना ही श्रेयस्कर है |

Aputratvam bhavacchreyao  na tu syaadviguneh sutah.
Jeevannaoyavineetosauh mruta eva na samshayah.

Aputratvam = not having any son.    Bhavacchreyao = bhavat+shreyo.
Bhavat = being.      Shreyo = beneficial, better.    Na = not.    Tu = but.
Syaadviguneh =syaad +viguneih .   Syaat = perhaps.    viguneih =worthless,
without any merit.    Sutah = son.   Jeevannyapyavineetosauh = jeevan +api
+avineeto +asau.    Jeeva = alive.   Api = even if.    Avineeto = rude, ill mannered.
Asau =  he     Mruta = dead.     Aiva = really, like.    Na = not.   Sanshayah =doubt.

i.e.       It is preferable not to have any son rather than having a son without any virtues
and merit.  So long he will be alive he will be rude and ill mannered.  No doubt, such
a son be better dead than alive.
