बालस्यापि रवेः पादाः पतन्त्युपरि भूभृताम् |
तेजसा सह जातानां वयः कुत्रोपयुज्यते ||
अर्थ - महान और तेजस्वी कुल में जन्मे बालकों के तेज का उनकी आयु से कहां कोई सम्बन्ध है ?
देखो ! बाल रवि (अरुणोदय के समय उगते हुए सूर्य ) की किरणें भी पर्वतों के ऊपर पड कर उन्हें
प्रकाशित कर देती हैं |
(इस सुभाषित में उगते हुए सूर्य की उपमा द्वारा यह् तथ्य प्रतिपादित किया गया है कि महान
और तेजस्वी कुल में जन्मे बालक अपने वंशानुगत गुणों के कारण बचपन से ही तेजस्वी होते है
और उनकी कम आयु से उनके तेज में कोई अन्तर नहीं पडता है | )
Baalasyaapi Raveh paadaah patantypari bhoobhrutaam.
Tejasaa saha jaataanaam vayah kutropasyujyate.
Baalasyaapi= baalasya + api. Baalasya = a child's Api = even. Raveh = the Sun's.
Paadaah = rays. Patatyupari = patanti +upari. Patanti = fall down. Upari = over.
Bhoobhrutaam = mountains,Kings , Tejasa = power, vibrancy. Saha = together with.
Jaataanaam = born. Vayah = age. Kutropayujyate = kutra +upayujyate.
Kutra = where. Upayujyate = be applicable.
i.e. Where is age of any consequence for the children born in famous and powerful families, so far as their vibrancy is concerned ? See, how the rays of the rising Sun by falling on the Mountains
brighten them.
(Through this Subhashita by using the simile of a rising Sun , the author has tried to emphasise that
children born in illustrious and powerful families are full of vibrancy even in their childhood and being young is immaterial )
