Today's Subhashita.


किं कुलेन विशालेन विद्याहीनेव  देहिनाम्  |
दुष्कुलीनोSपि  विद्वांश्च देवैरपि सुपूज्यते  ||

अर्थ -    यदि किसी प्रतिष्ठित और प्रसिद्ध कुल में जन्मे हुए कोई व्यक्ति
अशिक्षित हो तो  उसके ऐसे कुल मे जन्म लेने से क्या लाभ ?  इसके विपरीत
एक साधारण कुल में उत्पन्न व्यक्ति भी यदि विद्वान् हो तो वह्  समाज मे
देवताओं के समान पूजनीय होता है |

Kim kulena vishaalena vidyaaheeneva dehinaam.
Dushkuleenopi vidvaamshcha devairapi supoojyate.

Kim = what ?     Kulena = dynasty.    vishaalena = illustrious.
Vidyaaheeneneva = vidyaaheena + iva.    Vidyaaheena =
 not having  any education.     iva= like.      Dehinaam =
persons.    Dushkuleenopi =dushkuleeno +api.   Api =even.
Dushkuleeno = a person not of high descent.   Vidvaamshcha =
vidvaan + cha.     Vidvaan = a scholar.    Cha = and.
Devairapi = Devih + api.    Daivai = gods.   api = like.
Supoojyate = highly honoured.

i.e.       If a person born in an illustrious family happens to be illiterate
then of what use is his being born in such a family ?  As against this
a  person born in an ordinary family is highly respected like a God  if he
is highly educated.
