Today's Subhashita.

कृतान्तस्य दूती जरा कर्णमूलं
समागत्य वक्तीति लोकाः श्रुणुध्वम्  |
परस्त्रीपरदृव्यवांञ्च्छां  त्यजध्वं
भजध्वं  रमानाथपादाSरविन्दम्   ||

अर्थ -     अरे अज्ञानी लोगो  !  मृत्यु की दूती के रूप में वृद्धावस्था आ कर
तुम्हारे कानों मे चुपके से यह्  कह्  रही  है कि  मेरीं यह्  चेतावनी   सुनो
और दूसरों  की स्त्री और धन पर  अपना  अधिकार करने की बुरी कामना
का त्याग कर अपना शेष जीवन   महादेवी  लक्ष्मी के पति भगवान विष्णु
के चरणकमलों की शरण मे लगा कर उनका भजन करो |

Krutaantasya dootee jaraa karnamoolam
Samaagatya vakteeti lokaah shrunudhvam/
Parastreeparadruvya vaamchaam tyajadhvam
Bhajadhvam ramaanaathapaadaaravindam.

Krutantasya =   Death's (death personifie)    Dootee = messenger.
Jaraa = old age.    Karnamoolam = root of the ear.    Samaagatya =
arriving, joining.    Vakteeti = says this.    Lokaah = O people !
Shrunudhvam =  listen.    Parastreeparadruvya = para+stree+para+
druvya.    Para = other persons'   Stree= wife.    Druvya = money,
wealth.   Vaamchaam = desire to possess of acquire.   Tyajahvam =
renounce.     Bhajadhvam = worship,  pray.   Ramaanaath =  God
Vishnu, the consort of Goddess Rama.   Paadarvindam =  feet soft
and coloured  like lotus flower.

i.e.       O ignorant people  !  Old age acting as a messenger of Death is
humming this message in your ears that now it is time to renounce your
evil desire to possess other person's wife and wealth, and devote your
remaining time in the worship of lotus colored feet of God Vishnu, the
consort of Goddess Rama (Lakshmi).
