Ashakatastu bhavesadhurbrahmacharee cha nirdhanah.
Vyaadhito devabhaktashcha vruddhaa naaree pativrutaa.
Ashakastu = ashakatah +tu. Ashakta = weak, incompetent.
Tu = and, but. Bhavetsaadhurbrahmachaaree =bhavet + saadhuh
+brahmachaaree, Bhavet = should become. Saadhu = a hermit.
Brahmachaaree = a person observing chastity, a celibate. Cha = and.
Nirdhana += a poor person. Vyaadhito = a sick person.
Devabhakta = a worshiper of God. Vruddha = aged. Naaree =
a woman. Pativrutaa = a virtuous woman devoted to her husband.
i.e. A weak and incompetent person should better become a hermit, and
a poor person should likewise become a celibate and observe chastity.
Persons afflicted with diseases become devotees of God (in the hope of
getting cured) and aged women become more virtuous and devoted to their
husbands.
