असत्या च हता वाणी तथा पैशुन्यवादिनी |
संदिग्धोSपि हतो मन्त्रो व्ययचित्त्तो हतो तपः || - महासुभषित संग्रह (36887)
अर्थ - झूठ बोलने वाले व्यक्ति की वाणी (विचार व्यक्त करने की शक्ति और उसकी
प्रामाणिकता ) नष्ट हो जाती है तथा वह दुष्टता की ओर प्रेरित हो जाता है | उसकी कही
हुई बातों पर लोग संदेह् करते हैं तथा उसकी अस्थिर मनोवृत्ति तथा अनैतिक आचरण के
कारण वह् व्यक्ति तपभृष्ट भी हो जाता है |
Asatyaa cha hataa vaanee tathaa paishunyavaadinee.
Samdigdhopi hato mantrah vyayachitto hato tapah.
Asatyaa = telling a lie. Cha = and. Hataa = destroyed, become worthless.
Vaanee = speech, language. Tathaa = thus, so also. Paishunya = wickedness.
Vaadini = causing. Samdigdhopi = even doubtful. Mantro = speech,
advice. Vyayachitto = dissolute way of mind. with lax morals Tapah =
religious austerity.
i.e. The authenticity of the words spoken by a person always telling lies is lost and
also results in his becoming a wicked person. People always doubt the statements made
by him and he also loses religious austerity due to his dissolute way of mind and lax
morals,
