Today's Subhashita.

असमर्थं   परित्यज्य  समर्थाः  परिभुञ्जते  |
नृपाणां नास्ति दायाद्यं  वीरभोग्या वसुन्धरा ||

अर्थ -      जो राजा (शासक )अयोग्य और असमर्थ हों  उन्हें त्याग कर यह  पृथ्वी ऐसे
राजाओं के द्वारा बलपूर्वक भोगी जाती है जिन में दया और क्षमा आदि की भावना
नहीं होती है |  इसी लिये तो कहा गया है कि इस  पृथ्वी  पर केवल  वीर और पराक्रमीं
शासक ही राज करने में सफल होते हैं |

(इस सुभाषित का वाक्यांश  'वीरभोग्या वसुन्धरा'  वाद विवाद आदि में बहुतया उधृत
किया जाता है | इस आप्तवचन के सैकडों  उदाहरण इस विश्व के इतिहास में भरे पडे हैं)

Asamartham parityajya samarthaah parimunjate.
Nrupaanaam naasti daayaaym veerabhogyaa vasundharaa.

Asamartha = incapable and incompetent persons.    Parityajya = quitting,
discarding.    Samarthaah= efficient and powerful persons.      Paribhuunjate =
enter forcefully;     Nrupaanaam = Kings.       Naasti = non existent.  
Daayaaadyam = compassion, mercy and sympathy etc.         Veerbhogyaa =
fit to be ruled  by powerful and brave persons.      Vasundhara  - the Earth.

i.e.      Those kings (rulers) who are incompetent and incapable , are discarded by this
Earth and it is ruled forcibly by such Kings who are devoid of compassion, mercy and
sympathy.

(The last two words of this Subhashita are oft quoted in various discourses and
hundreds of examples of this prophesy  are there in the History of this World,)
