Today's Subhashita.

आकीर्णः शोभते राजा न विविक्त कदाचन |
ये तं विविक्तमिच्छन्ति ते तस्य रिपवः स्मृताः |  -  महासुभषितसंग्रह (4238)

अर्थ -     एक राजा (या शासक)  चारों ओर से प्रशंसकों और अनुचरों  से घिरा
 रहने से ही सुशोभित होता है न कि अकेले एकान्त में रहने पर |   जो लोग
उसके एकाकी रहने की इच्छा करते है वे उसके शत्रुओं  के रूप में जाने जाते हैं |

Aakeernah shobhate Rajaa na vivikta kadachana
Ye tam viviktamicchanti te tasya ripsvah smrutaah .

Aakeernah =  surrounded by.     Shobhate =  adorned, embellished.
Raajaa = a King, a ruler.     Na = not.     Vivikta = solitary, isolated.
Kadaachana =  ever.     Na Kadaachana = never.      Ye = those.
Tam = him.      Viviktamicchanti = viviktaam + icchanti.   Icchanti=
wish,, desire.     Tey = they.     Tasya = his.      Ripavah = enemies.
Smrutaah = termed as,  declared as.

i.e.        A King (or a Ruler) is adorned and embellished on being surrounded
by his admirers and attendants and not in solitary confinement.  Those who
wish him to remain aloof and confined to himself are termed as his enemies.
