द्वेधा भ्रमं तु वेधाश्चक्रे कान्तास्वपि च कनकेषु. |
यदि कान्ता साध्वी यदि कनकं सुततं भवाब्धिपोतं तत् || -सुभषितरत्नाकर
अर्थ - एक पत्नी और स्वर्ण (धन संपत्ति का पर्याय) इन दोनों के संदर्भ मे
भ्रम , निष्ठा ओर पवित्रता का चक्कर सदैव बना रहता है | यदि पत्नी साध्वी
हो और स्वर्ण भी अच्छे साधनों से अर्जित किया हुआ हो तो वह् इस संसार रूपी
सागर को पार करने के लिये एक जहाज के समान होता है |
(यदि इस के विपरीत स्थिति हो तो उसकी कल्पना की जा सकती है जो कि इस
सुभाषित में व्यक्त नहीं के गयी है , यानि भवसागर पार करने के बदले वह् व्यक्ति
उसमे डूब जायेगा | )
Dveshaa bhramam tu veshaashchakre kaantaasvaapi cha kanakeshu.
Yadi kaantaa saadhvee yadi kanakam sutatam bhavaabdhipoto tat.
Dvedhaa = in two ways.. Bhramam = confusion Tu =and.
Vedhaashchakre =Vedhaah + chakre. Vedhah = pious and faithful.
Chakre = cycle. Kaantaasvapi = kaantaasu + api. Kaantaasu = wife's
Cha = and. Kanakeshu = gold's (wealth). Yadi = if. Kaantaa+ wife.
Saadhvee= virtuous and faithful wife. Kanakam = gold.. Sutatam =
su +tatam. Su = a prefix called ;upasarga' of Sanskrit meaning very good
or best. Tatam =that. Bhavaabdhipotam = bhava+abdhji+ potam. Bhava =
this World. Abdhi = ocean. Potam = a ship.
i.e. Between one's wife and the wealth acquired by him (these two) there
is always a cycle (state )of confusion , faithfulness and piety. If the wife
is virtuous and faithful and the wealth is acquired by fair means, then they
both act as a ship to cross over the ocean of miseries of this World.
(The author has not dealt with the other situation, which can be easily assumed
that he will get drowned in this Ocean.)
