Today's Subhashita.

शत्रोरपि गुणा ग्राह्या दोषा वाच्या गुरोरपि |
छत्रच्छेदमयं दृष्ट्वा  दूरापाति  च  राघवः  || -सुभषितरत्नाकर

अर्थ -       हे  राघव  !     गुणों को, चाहे  वे शत्रुओं के ही क्यों  न
हों,अवश्य  गृहण  कर लेना चाहिये लेकिन  दोष  तथा निन्दा  यदि
अपने गुरु की  ही क्यों न हों  उस  से ऐसे ही   दूर  ही  रहना  चाहिये
जैसा कि एक अनेक छेदो से युक्त छतरी से , क्यों कि वह किसी
काम  की  नहीं होती है

Shatrorapi gunaa graahyaa doshaa vaachyaa gurorapi.
Chatracchedamayam drushtvaa dooraapaati cha Raaghavah.

Shatrorapi = shatroh +api.    Shatroh = enemies.   Api =even.
Gunaa = virtues, talent.    Graahyaa =  to be taken or emulated.
Dosha = shortcomings, defects.       Vaachyaa = to be spoken
againnst,.    Gurorapi = guroh +api.        Guroh = of a teacher..  .
Chatracchedamayam =  Chatrah + chedamayam .    Chatrah =
an umbrella.    Chedamayam = full of holes.     Drushtvaa =
on seeing.    Dooraapaati =  going far away, keep at a distance.
Cha = and.    Raghava = another name of Lord Ram.

i.e.       O Raghava  !    One should even accept and emulate
the virtues of his enemies but should  avoid the defects and criticism
of his teacher just like an umbrella with many holes which is of
no use.
