Today's Subhashita.

अस्ति पुत्रो वशे यस्य भृत्यो भार्या तथैव च  |
अभावे सति संतोषः स्वर्गस्थोSसौ महीतले ||  -महासुभषितसंग्रह (३८४५)

अर्थ -       जिस व्यक्ति के पुत्र  (संतान) उसके बश में  हों  (आज्ञाकारी हों )
तथा वैसे ही उसके नौकर तथा स्त्री भी आज्ञाकारी हों, तो ऐसा व्यक्ति अनेक
अभावों के होते  हुए भी  यदि संतोषी प्रवृत्ति का हो तो उस के लिये यह  पृथ्वी
ही स्वर्ग के समान सुखदायक है |

Asti putro vashe yasya bhrutyo  bhaaryaa tathaiva  cha.
Abhaave sati santoshh svargasthosau  maheetale.

Asti  =  is.      Putro = sons (children)    Vashe = under control i.e.
obedient.     Yasya = whose.     Bhrutyo = servants.   Bhaaryaa = wife.
Tathaiva = similarly.   Cha = and.    Abhaave = scarcity, in absence of.
Sati =  obtains, gets/    Santoshh = satisfaction, joy.   Svargasthosau =
svargastho + asau.     Svargastho = living in Heaven.    Asau = this.
Maheetale =  in this Earth.

i.e.    A person whose sons and  similarly his servants and his wife  are
under his control (obedient to him), and if  he remains content and happy
in spite of facing various types of shortages in his daily life, then for him
there is the bliss of the Heaven on this  Earth itself.
