Ashanam mey vasanam mey jaayaa mey bandhuvargo mey.
Iti meymeykurvaanam kaalavruko purushaajam.
Ashanam = eating. Me = (i) my,to me (ii) mey mey (bleating
of a goat.). Vasanam = clothes. Jaayaa = wife. Bandhuvargo=
all the relatives. Iti = thus. Meymeykurvaanam = meymey +
kurvaanam . Meymey = repeatedly saying that this is mine,that
is mine i.e. being too much possessive. Kurvaanam = by doing,
by saying. Kaalabruko= kaala + bruko. Kaala = death.
Bruko = a wolf. Kaalavruko = death personified as a wolf.
Hanti = kills Purushaajam = Purushaa jam = Purushaa + ajam /
Purushaa = people.. Ajam = a goat. Purushaajam = people
personified as a goat.
i.e. A person who like a bleating goat always says that all
food,clothes ,wife, relatives etc. all are mine (very possessive)
can be killed any time by the wolf of Death .
( In this Subhashit by the use of the similes of a greedy person as
a goat,and death as a wolf,, the author has warned against too
much possessiveness.)
