Todays Subhashita.

आत्मबुद्धिः सुखं चैव गुरुबुद्धिर्विशेषतः  |
परबुद्धिर्विनाशाय स्त्रीबुद्धिः प्रलयङ्करी   ||  - महासुभषित सं ग्रह(४५९४)

अर्थ -      स्वयं अपनी बुद्धि से और विशेषतः अपने गुरु के द्वारा
दिये गये ज्ञान के अनुसार कार्य करने से सुख प्राप्त होता है |
यदि कोई व्यक्ति  अन्य (अनजान ) व्यक्तियों की राय के अनुसार
कार्य करता है तो उसका नाश हो जाता है , और स्त्रियों की बुद्धि के
अनुसार कार्य करने से तो सर्वनाश (पृथ्वी का अन्त होने के समान )
हो जाता है  |

(वर्तमान संदर्भ  में इस सुभाषित के अन्तिम पद को प्राचीन काल में
पुरुष सत्तात्मक समाज की मानसिकता का एक उदाहरण  मान
सकते  हैं जो कि अभी भी  दूर नहीं  हुई है |)

Aatmabuddhih sukham chaiva gurubuddhirvisheshatah.
Parabuddhirvinaashaaya  streebuddhih pralayamkaree.

Aatmabuddhih =  self-knowledge.    Sukham = happiness, .
Chaiva = cha +eva.    Cha = and     Eva = the same.
Gurubuddhirvesheshatah = gurubuddhih + visheshatah.
Gurubuddhih  = ideas or opinion of the Guru.  Visheshatah =
especially.       Parabuddhirvinaashaaya = parabuddhih +
vinaashaya.    Parabuddhih = ideas or opinion of others.
Vinaashaya =   ruinous, causing destruction.    Streebuddhih=
understanding or opinion of women..      Pralayankari =
causing widespread destruction like the end of the World.

i.e.       If a person performs his tasks according to his own
wisdom and especially according to the advice of his Guru ,
then its outcome is happiness all along.  But acting on the
advice of other (unknown) persons is ruinous , while acting
according to the opinion of women may result in widespread
destruction (like the end of the World).

( In the present times the last stanza of this Subhashita  can
be viewed as an example of the attitude of the male dominated
society in Middle Ages, which is still in existence everywhere.)
