आत्मवत्सर्वभूतानि परदृव्याणि लोष्टवत् |
मातृवत्सर्वदारांश्च यः पश्यति स पश्यति || - महासुभषितसंग्रह (4603)
अर्थ - जो भी व्यक्ति समस्त प्राणिमात्र को स्वयं अपने ही समान
(दया दृष्टि से ) देखता हो , और दूसरों की धन संपत्ति जिसके लिये
एक मिट्टी के ढेले के समान तुच्छ हो, तथा (अपनी स्त्री के अतिरिक्त )
सभी स्त्रियों का अपनी माता के समान आदरपूर्वक सम्मान करता हो,
वही वास्तव में पवित्र दृष्टि से युक्त होता है |
Aatmavatsarvabhootaani paradruvyaaani loshtvat.
Maatruvatsarvadaaramshcha yahh pashyati sa pashyati.
Aatmatvat = like one's self. Sarvabhootaani = all living beings.
Paradruvyaani = property of others' . Loshtavat = like a lump of
earth, clod. Maatruvat = like a mother, Sarvadaareshu =
all womenfolk (other than one's own wife). Yahh = whosoever/
Pashyati = sees. considers. Sa = he. Pashyati = sees with
a spiritual eye (purity of vision ).
i.e. A person who considers all the living beings on this Earth as
his own self ( with compassion and kindness), considers the wealth
of others insignificant like a lump of earth, and views and respects
womenfolk (other than his wife) like his own mother, is truly a
person with purity of vision.
