Sarvam sampattayastasya santushtam yasya maanasam.
Apaanagoodhapaadasya nanu charmaavrutaiva bhooh.
Sarvam = every, each. Sampattayastasya =sampattayah +
Tasya . Sampattayah = wealth. Tasya = his.
Samtushtam = quite contented. Yasya = whose. Maanasam =
mind. Apaanagoodhapaadasya = Upana + goodha + paadasya.
Upaana = shoe. Goodha = covered by. Paadasya = feet's.
Nanu = an expression of perplexity Paadasya = feet's.
Charmaavrutaiva =Charma + aavruta + iva . Charmaavruta
= coverd by leather. iva = like. Bhooh = the Earth.
i.e. A person having a contended mindset always remains
satisfied as if he is endowed with every type of wealth.. Is it
necessary for a person to cover the entire Earth with leather if
one is equipped with shoes on his feet ?
( The state of contentedness has been alluded with a pair of
shoes and the desire for more and more wealth to rough terrain.
The author then asks a question whether is it necessary to cover
the entire Earth with leather when one can move with a pair of
shoes, thereby implying that a contended person can live happily
with whatever meager means he may be having. )
