Today's Subhashita.

आत्मकार्यं  महाकार्यं  परकार्यं न   केवलं  |
आत्मकार्यस्य दोषेण कूपे पतति मानवः || -  महासुभषितसंग्रह (४५४६)

अर्थ  -    केवल अन्य व्यक्तियों के  कार्यों को संपादित करना हीं महान
कार्य नहीं  होता है , अपना स्वयं  का कार्य करना भी उतना ही महत्त्व
पूर्ण होता है , क्योंकि  अपने स्वयं के  कार्य में कोई  दोष होने पर एक कुवें
में गिरने के समान मनुष्य का पतन  हो जाता है |

Aatmakaaryam mahaakaaryam parakaryam  na kevalam.
Aatmakaaryasya doshena koope patati maanavah.

Aatmakaaryam = one's own private affairs.    Mahaakaarya =
big and most important action.    Parakaaryam = other persons'
affairs or work.    Na = not.   Kevalam = only.  Aatmakaaryasya =
due to one's own work.    Doshena = defects, shortcomings.
Koope = in a well.    Patati = falls down    Maanavsh = mankind.

i.e.       Accomplishing the tasks of others is not only a very big job,
doing one's own job similarly is equally  very important job, because
if there is any shortcoming or defect in performing one's own job, it
results in his downfall like falling inside a well.
