Today's Subhashita.

आत्मार्थं जीवलोकेस्म्निको न जीवति  मानवः |
परं  परोपकारार्थं  यो जीवति  स जीवति           ||  -महासुभषितसंग्रह(4660)

-अर्थ -     इस संसार में भला ऐसा कौन व्यक्ति है जो स्वयं अपने  हित  के
लिये जीवनयापन नहीं करता है ?  परन्तु समाज  में  उसी  व्यक्ति का जीवन
सफ़ल  माना जाता  हैं जो  अन्य दीन दुखियों  की  सहायता में भी सदैव तत्पर
रहता  है |

( इसी भावना को एक फिल्मी  गीत  में भी  इस तरह व्यक्त किया गया है  -
 "अपने लिये  जिये तो क्या जिये , तू  जी ऐ दिल ! जमाने  के  लिये "

Aatmaartham jeevalokesminko  na jeevati maanavah.
Param paropakaaraartham yo jeevati sa jeevati.

Aatmaartham = for the sake of one's self.     Jeevalokesminko =
jeevaloke +asmin+ko.    Jeevaloke = World of living beings.
Asmin =  in  this.    Ko = who .    Na = not.    Jeevati = lives.
Maanavah = human being.     Parm = but.     Paropakaaraartham =
for the charitable purposes, for helping the needy people.
 Yo =   whosoever.     Sa = he.    Jeevati = lives in the real sense.

i.e.       Tell me , is there  any living being on this Earth who does not
live for his own  welfare ?   However, only a person who also actively
engages himself in charitable work of helping the poor and needy
persons, really lives a meaningful life.
