Today's Subhashita.

आदरं  राजसदसि  धनेन  लभते   नरः |
सुभटः शत्रु संग्रामे  विक्रेमेण यथा जयं ||  - महासुभषितसंग्रह (4683)

अर्थ =    जैसा आदर  एक महान् योद्धा युद्ध में शत्रु पर अपनी  वीरता
से विजय प्राप्त करने के कारण  राजदरबार में प्राप्त कर लेता है  वैसा ,
ही आदर एक धनवान व्यक्ति  भी अपनी धन संपत्ति के बल पर राज्य  
से प्राप्त कर लेता है |
( उपर्युक्त कथन राजा महाराजाओं के जमाने में अधिक सार्थक था  जब
कि वीरता धनबल की तुलना में अधिक\सम्मानित  होती थी }  वर्तमान
परिस्थितियों  में तो धनबल का ही वर्चस्व ही  सर्वत्र  शासन व्यवस्था में
दिखाई  देता है | )

Adaram rajasadasi dhanena labhate narah.
Subhatah  shatrusamgrame vikramena yathaa jayah.

Adaram = respect, regard/    Raajsadasi = State Assembly/
Dhanena = through  wealth.    Labhate = obtain.   Narah =
a person.      Subhatah = a great warrior.    Sbatrusmgraame =
war with an enemy.    Vikramena =  through valour.    Yathaa =
for instance., in the same manner.   Jayam = victory.

i.e.      The respect  a great warrior gets in the King's Court for his
valour and being victorious in a war with the enemy,  a rich person also
gets similar respect  due to his wealth.

(The above statement was more meaningful during the era when Kings
ruled a country and valour was appreciated more than wealth.   Now a
days wealth rules over every thing.)
