Today's Subhashita.

आयतिं सर्वकार्याणां तदात्वं च विचारयेत्  |
अतीतानां च  सर्वेषां गुणदोषौ  च  ततत्त्वतः   ||  -महासुभषितसंग्रह (5067)

अर्थ -   भविष्य में सभी कार्यों को करने से पूर्व तुम्हें अतीत  ( गुजरे  हुए
समय)  में अपने द्वारा सम्पन्न किये हुए ऐसे ही कार्यों के गुणों तथा दोषों
के बारे में  पहले अच्छी तरह से विचार कर लेना चाहिये |

(इस सुभाषित के माध्यम  से लोगों को कोई  भी कार्य करने से पहले अपने
पूर्वानुभव का लाभ उठाने के लिये प्रेरित किया गया है |  )

Aayatim sarvakaaryaani  tadaatvam cha vichaarayet.
Ateetaanaam cha sarveshaam gunadoshau cha tatvatah.

Aayatim  =  in future.    Sarva = all.    Kaaryaani =  tasks, work..
Tadaatvam = tadaa +tvam,    Tadaa = then.    Tvam =   you.
Cha = and.     Vichaarayet =   should examine or consider.
Ateetaanaam = in the past., gone by.    Sarveshaam = all.
Gunadoshau = merits and demerits.    Tattvatah = properly..

i.e.      Before undertaking all tasks in future ,you should properly
 examine and  consider the merits and demerits of  similar tasks
accomplished by you in the past .

(The above Subhashita exhorts  people to examine the merits and
demerits of a proposal on the basis of their past experience  and then
only undertake it. )
