Today's Subhashita.

Svyam Maheshh shvasuro nageshh sakhaa  dhaneshstanayo ganeshh.
Tathaapi Bhikshaatanameva shambhrvaleeyasee kevalameeshvarecchaa.

Svyam = himself.    Maheshah =  great God.    Shvasuro = father-in-law.
Nageshh = king of mountains  i.e. Himalaya.    Sakhaa = friend.
Dhaneshastanayo = dhanesh +tanayo.    Dhanesha = Kuber, the Treasurer
of Gods.    Tanayo = son.      Ganesha = Lord Ganesha.         Tathaapi =
even then.    Bhikshaatana = wandering about for alms.   Eva= really.
Shambhorvaleeyasi + shambhoh + baleeyasee.     Shambho = God Shiva.
Baleeyasee = more powerful.     Kevalameeshvarecchaa =  kevalam +
Ishvarecchaa .     Kevalam = only.     Ishvarecchaa = will of God Almighty..

i.e.       He himself is considered as great among  all Gods,  His father-in-law
is the Himalayas, the king of mountains, his friend is Kuber, the Treasurer
of Gods, and his son is the illustrious God Ganesha.  Even then the God
Shambhu  has  to earn his living by wandering about for alms.  What other
reason can there be for this irony than the quirk of Destiny or fate.?

(The above Subhashita is classified under the head "Destiny" . In Sanskrit
literature the peculiarity of Lord Shiva's family is a topic of jokes and this
Subhashita also uses it in a joking way to emphasize the fact that only
Destiny ultimately shapes the lives of people.).
