Today's Subhashita.

आर्तानांमिह जन्तूनां अतिच्छेदं करोति यः |
शङ्खचक्रगदाहीनो   द्विभुजः  परमेश्वरः   ||  - महासुभषितसंग्रह (5260)

भावार्थ -    इस संसार में पहले से ही दुखी प्राणियों को यदि कोई व्यक्ति
और अधिक  कष्ट देता है और दुःखी करता है तो लोग उसे शङ्ख, चक्र और
गदा विहीन केवल दो भुजाओं वाला परमेश्वर कहने लगते  हैं |

( सनातन धर्म के अनुसार इस संसार में प्राणी अपने शुभ-अशुभ कर्मों और
प्रारब्ध (पूर्व जन्म जनित दुष्कर्मो ) के अनुसार  या दुख को भोगते हैं और
यह् परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार होता है |  यदि कोई व्यक्ति जानबूझ
कर दूसरे  प्राणियों  को दुखी करता है जिसका उसे कोई अधिकार नहीं है
तो इसे ईश्वर  की सत्ता में अनाधिकार चेष्ठा ही कहा जायेगा | इसी बात
पर ऐसे व्यक्तियों पर इस सुभाषित में व्यंग्य किया  गया है | )

Aartaanamiha jantoonaam aticchedam karoti yah .
shankhachakragadaaheeno dvibhujah parameshvarah.

Aatraanaam = distressed.     Iha = in this World.   Jantoonaam=
living beings.       Aticchedam =  too much deprivation ,torture.  
Karoti = does.      Yah = whosoever.    Shankha =conch shell.
Chakra =  a round circular weapon.     Gadaa = a mace. ( all
these three things adorn the three hands of Lord Vishnu and a
Padma .      (lotus flower adorns the fourth hand as per Hindu
Mythology.    Dvibhujah = having  two hands.  Parameshvarah =
God Almighty.  (Lord Vishnu is the incarnation of God Almighty
 as per Hindu mythology,)

i.e.   If a person tortures and deprives all the living beings on this
Earth, who are already deprived  and  in a  miserable state , then
people sarcastically  call him a caricature of Lord Vishnu without a
conch shell, a chakra and a mace  (the  usual accessories of  God)
and having only two arms .

(According to Hindu religion only God gives punishment to all
living beings  depending upon the types of bad Karmas of all living
beings in their present birth or previous birth.  In this Subhashita
the author has mockingly called such a person a caricature of Vishnu
having only two hands and without the usual accessories.)
