Today's Subhashita.

किं  कुलेन  विशालेन  विद्याहीनास्य  देहिनः  |
अकुलीनोऽपि  विद्यावान्  देवैरपि  सुपूज्यते  || -  संस्कृत सुभाषितानि

भावार्थ -      यदि कोई  व्यक्ति विद्याहीन ( अनपढ ) हो तो उसका किसी
महान जाति या  संप्रदाय  का सदस्य होने का क्या  लाभ  ?  इसके विपरीत
एक नीच जाति का व्यक्ति भी यदि वह  विद्वान  हो तो समाज में देवताओं
के समान पूजनीय होता है  |

(इस सुभाषित के माध्यम से विद्या प्राप्त करने  के महत्व को प्रतिपादित
किया गया है | )

Kim kulena vishaalena vidyaaheenasya dhinah.
Akuleenopi vidyaavaan devairapi supoojyate.

Kim = what ?    Kulena = caste, clan   Vishaalena =great,
mighty.    Vidyaa = knowledge, learning.   Heenasya =
deprived of/   Dehinah = a person.   Akuleenopi  =
akuleeno + api.     Api = even if.   Akuleeno = a person
not with a good background.   Vidyaavaan = learned,
well educated.     Devairapi =  devaih +  api.   Devaih =
gods.    Api = too, also.    Supoojyate = venerated.

i.e.     Of what use is being a member of a big caste or clan, if the
person concerned is not  well educated ?   On the other hand,, even
a person belonging to a low caste is venerated like a God if he is
a learned person.

(Through this Subhashita the importance of proper education
has been propagated. )
