Adharmenaithate poorvam tato bhadraani pashyati
Tatah sapatraan jayati samoolastu vinashyati.
Adharmenaithate = adharmena + ethate. Adharmena =
by leading an immoral lifestyle. Ethate = becomes dry
wood. Poorvam = before, initially. Tato = afterwards.
Bhadraani = prosperity. Pashyati = sees, enjoys. Tatah =
due to that. Sapatraan = along with leaves. Jayati = be
victorious or successful. Samoolastu = samoolah + tu.
Samoolah = along with the roots, original capital . Tu = but, .
Vinashyati = annihilated, gets destroyed.
i.e. By adopting unethical and unfair means, initially a
person quickly becomes prosperous and happy just like a
growing tree full of leaves and fruits. But later on, just as
a tree dries up and gets destroyed along with its roots,in the
same manner not only the ill -gotten wealth gets destroyed
even the original capital of that person also gets destroyed.
(There are numerous examples of people becoming very rich
and victorious by adopting unfair means. But their downfall is
also very quick and they lose even their original capital . This
fact has been highlighted beautifully in this Subhashita.
