Today's Subhashita.

Asadbhih shapathenoktam jale likhitamaksharam.
sadbhistu leelayaa proktam shilaalikhitamaksharam.

Asadbhih = people of evil temperament,     Shapathenoktam =
shapathena + uktam.    Shapathena = by swearing, under an oath,
Uktam = said.    Jale = on water.   Likhitamaksharam =   likhitam +
aksharam.   Likhitam = written   Aksharam +  words.    Sadbhistu=
Sadbhih + tu.    Sadbhih = upright and truthful persons.   Tu = but.
Leelayaa = casually, playfully.     Proktam = spoken,  declared.
Shilaalikhitmaksharam=  shila + likhitam + aksharam.      Shilaa =
a slab of stone.      Likhitam = written.   Aksharam = words.

i.e.      The commitments made by persons of evil temperament even
under oath are just like words written on the surface of water ( which
disappear immediately) and are not honoured by them.    On the other
hand commitments made by upright and truthful persons even casually
are like the words engraved on a slab of stone (permanent) and are duly
honoured by them.
