लुब्धमनर्थे गृहीयात् क्रुद्धमञ्जलिकर्मणा |
मूर्खं छन्दानुवृत्या च तत्त्वार्थेन च पण्डितम् || - संस्कृत सुभाषितानि
भावार्थ - किसी लालची व्यक्ति को धन दे कर संतुष्ट (वश मे ) करना
चाहिये तथा एक क्रोधी व्यक्ति को हाथ जोड कर उसका सम्मान कर के
शान्त करना चाहिये | एक मूर्ख व्यक्ति को यह विश्वास दिला कर कि
उसकी इच्छा पूरी कर दी जायेगी, तथा एक पण्डित (विद्वान् व्यक्ति )
को सच बोल कर ही संतुष्ट करना चाहिये |
Lubdhamanartham gruheeyaat kruddhamanjalikarmanaa.
Moorkham chandaanuvrutyaa cha tatvaarthena cha panditam.
Liubdhamanartham = lubdham +artham. Dubdhaam = a greedy
person. Artham = money, wealth. Gruheeyaat = convinced,
won over Kruddhamanjalikarmanaa = kruddhamm + anjalikarma.
Kruddham = an angry person. Anjalikarmanaa = showing respect
by saluting him. Moorkham = a foolish person. Chandaanuvrutya=
by complying with any one's wish. Cha = and. Tatvaarthena =
by telling the truth. Panditam = a learned person.
i.e. A greedy person can be convinced by offering him money,
and an angry person can be subdued by courteously saluting him
with folded hands. A foolish person should be convinced by
making him feel that his wish will be fulfilled, and a learned person
can be convinced only by telling the truth.
