Today's Subhashita.

उच्छिद्यते धर्मवृतं अधर्मो विद्यते महान्  |
भयमाहुर्दिवारात्रं    यदा  पापो  न वार्यते      ||  =महासुभषितसंग्रह

भावार्थ -   समाज में जब  पापकर्मों (बुरे और निषिद्ध कार्यों ) के ऊपर
किसी प्रकार का  नियन्त्रण  और  प्रतिबन्ध नहीं होता है  तो  लोगों के 
धार्मिक आचरण में न्यूनता (कमी) होने लगती है और अधर्म (बुरे और 
निषिद्ध कर्मों ) में महान वृद्धि होने से रात दिन सर्वत्र भय व्याप्त  हो
जाता है  |

( इस सुभाषित में वर्णित स्थिति वर्तमान समय मे संसार के अनेक देशों
में देखी  जा सकती है | )
 
Ucchidyate dharmavrutam adharmo vidyate mahaan,
Bhayamaahurdivaaraatram  yada paapo  na vaaryate.

Ucchidyate = be deficient,gets destroyed.   Dharmavrutam =
observance of religious austerity.     Adharmo = immorality,
wickedness.       Vidyate =  exists.                Mahaan = great.
Bhayamaahurdivaaraatram =   bhayam  + aahuh  +divaa +.
Raatram.     Bhaya =  fear.    Aahuh  = calls.    Divaa = day.
Raatram = night.   Yadaa = when,   Paapo =  sins.  Na =not.
Vaaryate -= under check or control.

i.e.      In a society where  there is no control over sinful and
illegal deeds, there is  a steep decline in the  religious austerity
of  the  people, and  as a result  there is abnormal  increase in
immorality, and an environment of fear is built up everywhere
at all times (throughout day and night:) .
