उपकारिषु यः साधुः साधुत्वे तस्य को गुणः |
अपकारिषु यः साधुः स साधुः सद्भिरुच्यते ||- महासुभषितसंग्रह
भावार्थ - जो व्यक्ति इच्छा पूर्वक अन्य व्यक्तियों का उपकार
करता है वह ऐसा इस लिये करता है कि सज्जनता तो उस का गुण
ही है | परन्तु जिस व्यक्ति का स्वभाव ही दूसरों को हानि पहुंचाना
हो , तो वह यदि किसी को उपकृत करता है तो वह् एक साधु व्यक्ति की
तरह् ही प्रशंसित और सम्मानित होता है |
करता है वह ऐसा इस लिये करता है कि सज्जनता तो उस का गुण

Upakaarishu yah sadhuh saadhutye tasye ko gunah.
Apakaarishu yah saadhuh sa saadhuh sadbhiruchyate.
Upakaarishu = a benefactor, person helping others.voluntarily.
Yah = whosioever. Saadhuh = noble person. Saadhutve=
being noble. Tasya = his Ko = what. Gunah = virtue.
Apakaarishu = persons harmful to others, mischievious persons.
Sa = he Sadbhiruchyate = sat + abhiruuchyate. Sat = true,
real. Abhiruchyate = shines.
i.e. A person who voluntarily helps others does so because
he is a noble person by nature. But if a person, who by nature is
harmful to others, helps others like a noble person, he too shines
and is appreciated as a noble person.

I think the meaning of this Subhashitam is different.

But, if one does good to even those who do not do good to him, then he is called a saint.
