उत्सवे व्यसने प्राप्ते दुर्भिक्षे शत्रुसंकटे |
राजद्वारे श्मशाने च यस्तिष्ठति स बान्धवः || - महासुभषितसंग्रह
भावार्थ - कोई भी व्यक्ति जो किसी उत्सव में, किसी प्रकार के
व्यसन को करते समय , दुर्भिक्ष (अकाल ) के समय, किसी शत्रु
के द्वारा उत्पन्न संकट के समय, राजद्वार (सरकारी कार्यालय )
या श्मशान (शव दाह करने का स्थान ) में तुम्हारे साथ होता है
तो वह् तुम्हारे मित्र और बान्धव के समान होता है |
Utsave vyasane praapte durbhikshe shatrusankate.
Rajadvaare smashaane cha yastishthati sa baandhavah.
Utsave = in a ceremony or a festival , Vyasane = while
engaged in an addiction such as gambling, drinking etc.
Praapte = acquired, obtained. Durbhikshe = a famine.
Shatrusankate = shatru +sankate. Shatru = enemy,
Sankate = danger from. Rajadvaare = at the king's gate
Smashaane = crematorium, cemetery. Cha = and .
Yastishthati = yahh + tishthati. Yahh = whosoever.
Tishthati = stays, Sa = he. Baandhavah = a relative,
a friend.
i. e A person, who stays with you during a ceremony or a
festival, while indulging in some kind of addiction (gambling,
drinking liquor etc), in a famine, facing danger from an enemy,
in a King;s court ( government offices), in a crematorium (or
a cemetery), he is akin to your friend or a close relative.
