आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

एकः शतं बोधयति प्राकारस्थो धनुर्धरः  |
शतं  दशसहस्राणि  तस्माद्दुर्गं  विधीयते  || - महासुभषितसंग्रह

भावार्थ -   किसी धनुषधारी योद्धा को यदि अपने एक या एक
सौ सैनिकों को आदेश देना या उद्बोधन  करना हो तो  वह ऐसा
एक दीवार या प्राचीर पर खडा  हो कर कर सकता है | परन्तु यदि
उसे एक सौ  या दस हजार सैनिकों को  उद्बोधित करना पडे  तो
इस  हेतु उसे  एक विशाल दुर्ग (किला) की  आवश्यकता होगी |

(किसी भी कार्य को संपन्न करने के लिये उचित स्थान और
परिस्थिति आवश्यक होती है | इसी तथ्य को इस सुभाषित  के
माध्यम से प्रतिपादित किया गया है |

Ekah shatam bodhayati praakaarastho dhanurdharah.
Shatam dashsahasraani tasmaddurgam  vidheeyate.

Ekah =  one.    Shatam = one hundred.      Bodhayati =
cause to advise or inspire     Praakaarastho = standing
a wall or  a raampart. .        Dhanurdharah = an archer.
Dashsahasraani = ten thousand,    Tasmaaddurgam =
tasmaat _ durgam.    Tasmaat = therefore.     Durgam =
a castle.     Vidheeyate = to be  allotted or required.

i.e.     If an archer has to address and inspire his one or one
hundred soldiers, he can do this by standing on a rampart
 or a wall.  But if he has to address from one hundred to
ten thousand soldiers, then he will need a big castle for this
purpose.

(The idea behind this subhashita is that proper place and
other facilities are required to accomplish a task.)
