आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

कलङ्केन यथा चन्द्रः क्षारेण लवणाम्बुधिः  |
कलहेन  तथा  भाति  ज्ञानवानापि   मानवः || - महासुभषितसंग्रह(८९७०)

भावार्थ -     जिस प्रकार चन्द्रमा उस पर कलङ्क (दाग धब्बे ) होने पर
भी तथा समुद्र का जल खारा (नमक युक्त) होने पर भी सुशोभित होते है ,
उसी प्रकार यदि कोई व्यक्ति विद्वान् हो तो  वह कलहप्रिय (झगडालू )
होने पर भी समाज में  चन्द्रमा और समुद्र की तरह सम्मानित होते हैं |

Kalankena yathaa Chandrah kshaarena lavanaambudhih.
Kalahena tathaa bhaati gyaanavaanaapi manavah,

Klankena = by a blot, defamation.    Yathaa = for instance.
Chandrah = the Moon.    Kshaarena = due to salinity of water.
Lavanaambudhih = the Ocean.    Kalahena = by quarelling.
Tathaa =  thus,  in the same manner .   Bhaati = be splendid,
eminent.    Gyaanvaanaapi = gyaanvaana +  api.   Api =even
Gyaanvana = knowledgeable, learned.  Maanavah =a person.

i.e.      Just as the Moon in spite of having dark blots  on its
surface, and the Ocean due to  its water being saline,are still
considered  splendid  and  eminent, in  the same  manner  a
learned person is also revered like the Moon and the Ocean
even if he may be quarrelsome.
