आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita

काककुर्कुटकायस्थाः सजातिपरिपोषकाः |
सजातिपरिहन्तारः सिंहाः श्वानो द्विजा गजाः ||- महासुभषितसंग्रह(९२९१)

भावार्थ -  कव्वे , मुर्गे और कायस्थ जाति के व्यक्ति अपनी अपनी जातियों
के अन्य सदस्यों के सहायक होते हैं और आपस में सद्व्यवहार करते हैं, जब
कि सिंह , कुत्ते, हाथी और ऊंची जातियों के व्यक्ति अपने सजातीयों के
प्रति प्रतिद्वन्दिता और हिंसा की ही भावना रखते  हैं |

(इस सुभाषित में विभिन्न प्राणियों का अपनी ही जाति के सदस्यों के प्रति
व्यवहार का विवेचन बडे  ही सुन्दर रूप में व्यक्त किया गया है |}

Kaaka-kurkuta-kaayasthaah sajaati-pariposhakaah.
Sajaati-parihantaarah simhaah shvaano dvijaa gajaah.

Kaaka = crows.    Kurkuta = cock.    kaayasthaah = a caste of
Hindus whose main profession was of petetion writers in Courts
and maintenance of land record in Government offices.
Sajaati = one's own caste or tribe.   Pariposhakaah = nourishers
Parihantaarah = destroyers    Simhaah = tigers.   Shvaano = dogs.
Dvijaa =  members of three upper castes of Hindus , namely
brahmins, kshatriyaas, and vaishyaas,    Gajaah = elephants.

i.e.    Crows, cocks and persons of ;Kaayastha; community are
supportive and helpful towards other members of their own tribe,
whereas  lions, dogs. elephants and members of the three upper
castes of Hindus are always hostile towards their own tribe.

(In this Subhashita the attitude of various animals and men
towards other members of their tribe has been nicely described.)
