Kalaanaam grahanaadeva saubhaagyamupajaayate .
Deshkalau tvapekshyaasaam prayogah sambhavenna vaa,
Kalaanaam = various fine arts. Grahanaadeva = grahanaat+
eva. Grahana = acquiring, learning.. Aiva= really.
Saubhaagyamupajaayate = saubhaagyam + upajaayate.
Saubhaagya =good luck, prosperity. Upajaayate = happens,
follows. Deshkalau = place and time. Tvapekshyaasaam =
Tu + apekshyaasaam. Tu = and, but. Apekshyaasaam =
wishing, requiring. Prayogah = use. Sambhavenna=
sambhavet +na. Sambhavet=be possible. Na = not. Vaa = is.
i.e. Acquiring skill in various fine arts always brings in good
luck and prosperity. Is it possible or not to use these fine arts
to good use,depending upon the place and time during an
adverse situation ?
(Through this Subhashita the author has emphasised that if a
person is expert in various skills, such skills are always very
helpful to him during any adverse situation .)
Namo Namaḥ! Really enjoying your posts. The icing on the cake would be if you could provide IAST for the transliteration so it can be read with proper pronunciation in English. This tool is very good at converting devanagari to IAST: http://www.learnsanskrit.org/tools/sanscript
