आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

यदा  प्रकृष्टा  मन्येत सर्वास्तु  प्रकृतीर्भृशम्  |
अत्युच्छ्रितं  तथात्मानं तदा कुर्वीत  विग्रहम् || - मनुस्मृति ७/१७०

भावार्थ -    राजा के  लिये यही उचित है कि अपने शत्रु से वह तभी
युद्ध छेडे  जब् वह् अपनी प्रजा को अपने से पूर्ण प्रसन्न जाने तथा
अपने को सब प्रकार से शत्रु से प्रबल समझे  |

( वर्तमान संदर्भ में पाकिस्तान से हमारे संबन्ध शत्रुवत्  ही कहे
जायेंगे | ऐसी स्थिति में  उपर्युक्त श्लोक में दी गयी सीख का बडा
महत्त्व है |  हमारे वर्तमान प्रधान मन्त्री  के ऊपर इस समय सभी
ओर से निर्णायक कदम उठाने (युद्ध करने ) का दबाव है, परन्तु  एक
सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक  मात्र करने पर विपक्ष ने जिस प्रकार हो हल्ला  किया
उस से तो यही प्रतीत होता है कि पूर्ण युद्ध करना उचित नहीं है , और
हमारे प्रधान मन्त्री राजनीति सम्मत सही निर्णय ले रहे हैं |)

Yadaa prakrushtaa manyeta sarvaastu prukriteerbhrusham.
Atyucchritam tathaatmaanam tadaa kurveeta vigraham.

Yadaa = when.   Prakrushtaa =  superior.    Manyeta = think.
Sarvaastu = sarvaah + tu     Sarvaah = all.   Tu = but, and.
Prakrateerbhrusham  = prakruteeh + bhrusham    Prakruteeh +
Bhrusham .    Prakruteeh = various options to be considered
in case of a war.    Bhrusham = powerful,   Atyucchritam =
ati = ucchritam.    Ati =  very.   Ucchritam = powerful , mighty.
Tathaatmaanam = tathaa + aatmaanam.    Tathaa = so, such.
Atmaanam = self.     Tadaa= then.     Kurveeta =  do,  wage.
Vigraham = war

 i.e.     It is  appropriate for the King that he should wage a war
against his enemies only when he  considers that the citizens
are happy with his governance  and he is more powerful than
his enemy in all respects.

(If we view this Subhashita  in the light of the  prevailing very
strained relations with our neighboring country Pakistan, vis-a-
vis extreme pressure on  our Prime Minster for taking a decisive
action to end the conflict, his present strategy in not waging a
war is correct, when we see that even a surgical strike by the
Army was doubted and severely criticized by the opposition. )
