आचाराल्लभते आयुराचारादीप्तिताः प्रजाः |
आचाराद्धनमक्षय्यमाचारो हन्त्यलक्षणम् || - मनुस्मृति ४/१५६
भावार्थ - सदाचार में तत्पर रहने से दीर्घ जीवन प्राप्त होता है
तथा देश की प्रजा भी सुशोभित होती है | सदाचार से ही अक्षय
(कभी समाप्त न होने वाली ) संपत्ति भी प्राप्त होती है और बुरे
लक्षणों से होने वाले अरिष्ट को भी सदाचार नष्ट कर देता है |
Achaaraallabhate aayuraachaaraadeepsitaah prajaah.
Achaaddhanamakshayyamaachaaro hantyalakshanam.
Achaaraallabhate = aachaaraat + labhate. Achaaraat=
by proper conduct. Labhate = get. Ayu = long lifespan.
Deeptitaah = brightens, beautified. Prajaah = people.
Achaataat+ dhanam+ akshayam +aacharo. Dhanam =
wealth Akshayam = inexhaustible, eternal.
Hantyalakshanam= hanti +alakshanam. Hanti = destroys.
Alakshanam = inauspicious symptoms.
i.e. Adherence to good moral conduct results in a healthy
and long lifespan and also raises the status of the citizens of
a Country. Good moral conduct confers eternal prosperity
and also destroys inauspicious situations occurring in one's
lifetime.
