Today's Subhashita.

Kinshuke shuka maa tishtha chiram bhaavi-phaleccha
Vaahya ranga-prasangena  keke  naaneva vanchitaa.

Kinshuke = name of a tree having very bright red flowers,
also called  'flame  of the forest' ..   Shuka = a parrot.
Maa = do not.   Tishta - stay, live.  Chiram = for a long
time.  Bhaavi = future.   Phalecchayaa = in the hope of
getting fruits.   Vaahya = outer.   Ranga = colour.  Prasangna=
incidentally.   Keke = who.    Naanena = Na + anena.
Na = not.    Anena = by this.    Vanchitaa = deceived, tricked.

i.e.     O parrot !    Do not stay in this Kinshuk tree for a long
time with the hope of getting a good supply of fruits in future.
Incidentally, who has not been deceived if he has relied only
on the outward appearance and colour ?

(The above Subhashita has also been classified as 'Shukaanyokti'.
as it uses the allegory of a parrot .  The 'kinshuka' tree . also
know as 'the flame of the forest' due to its very bright red flowers ,
incidentally does not bear any fruits. So, through this Subhashita
the author warns us that while dealing with others we should not
be influenced only by their outward appearance and colour , which
may result in our being deceived or cheated. )
