Naabhishko na smskaarah Simhaya kriyate vane.
Vikramaarjita-sattvasya svayameva mrugendrataa.
Naabhisheko = na + abhisheko. Na =not. Abhisheko =
coronation. Smskaaro = religious ceeremony. Simhasya=
of a Lion. Kriyate = is done. Vane = in a forest.
Vikramaarjita = acquired by valour. Sattvasya = of the
powerful living beings. Svayameva = himself, yourself.
Mugendrata = mruga+indrataa. Mruga = beasts, animals.
Indrata = power and dignity like Indra, the king of Gods.
i.e. In order to rule over the animals in a forest, a Lion does
not require any religious ceremony or a coronation.The lion
earns the exalted position as the King of the forest only due
to his valour and strength.
(This Subhahita is also classified as an 'Anyokti' . The idea
behind the Subhashita is that powerful and great persons earn
the distinction of leading and ruling over the citizens of a country
not just by religious ceremonies and a coronation but by the
dint of their valour and strength.)
