आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita

वपुर्विषमसंस्थानं  कर्णज्वरकरो   रवः |
करभस्याSशुगत्यैव  छादिता दोषसंहतिः  ||
                -   शार्ङ्गधर (सुभाषित रत्नाकर)

भावार्थ -   एक ऊंट का शरीर बेडौल और कुरूप होता है और
उसका  गर्जन कानों को कष्ट देने वाला होता है  |परन्तु  उसकी
विपरीत परिस्थितियों मे (एक मरुस्थल में) भी तेज चाल  इन
सारे दोषों को ढक (छुपा) देती है |

(उपर्युक्त सुभाषित भी एक अन्योक्ति (करभान्योक्ति) का एक
का सुन्दर उदाहरण है | लाक्षणिक रूप से इसका तात्पर्य यह है कि
कुरूपता  या कोई अन्य दुर्गुण होने पर भी यदि कोई बडा सद्गुण
किसी व्यक्ति या प्राणी में हो तो वह गुण उसके अन्य अनेक दोषों
को ढकने  में समर्थ होता है और  उसकी उपयोगिता में वृद्धि कर उसे
समाज में स्वीकार्य बनाता है |)

Vapurvishama-smsthaanam karnajvara -karo  bhavah.
Karabhasya-ashu-gatyeva chaaditaa dosha-smhatih .

Vapurvishamasmsthaanam = vapuh + vishama + smsthaanam.  
Vapuh =  body.   Vishama = bizarre, uneven.     Smsthaanam =
shape.  karnajvara+karo= karnajvara =affecting the ears  karo =
creating.   Ravah = roaring sound.    Karabhasyaashugatyeva =
Karabhasya +  aashu -gatyeva.    Karabhasya = of  a  camel.
Aashugatyeva =  going or moving quickly.   Chaaditaa = covers,
conceals.  Dosha= shortcomings,  defects.    Smhatih = multitudes.

i.e.          A camel's body is uneven in a bizarre manner  and the
roaring sound it creates is very unpleasing to the ears.  But its
capacity of traversing fast in difficult terrains (like a desert) covers
all its other defects.

( This Subhashita is also an example of an 'Anyokti' relating to a
Camel.  The idea behind this Subhashita is that if a person (or even
animals), who may have many defects, possesses any virtue(s)
which out-weigh the other defects,  such a person is willingly
accepted by the society.)
