आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

अलिरयं  नलिनीदलमध्यगः  कमलनीमकरन्दमदाSलसः  |
विधिवशात्परदेशमुपागतः  कुजटपुष्परसं बहु  मन्यते        ||
                                       - शार्ङ्गधर  (सुभाषित रत्नाकर )

भावार्थ -    एक मधुमक्खी जो एक सरोवर के कमल पुष्पों के समूह मे रह कर
उनका रसपान कर मदमस्त रहती  है, यदि उसे भाग्यवश किसी दुर्गंम  परदेश में
रहना पडे तो 'कुजट' के साधारण पुष्प  भी उसे बहुत अच्छे लगते हैं |

(यह सुभाषित भी 'भ्रमरान्योक्ति' शीर्षक से संकलित हुआ है | लाक्षणिक रूप से
इसका निहितार्थ यह्  है कि भाग्यवश  यदि किसी संपन्न व्यक्ति को भी गरीबी
का सामना करना पडता है तो  ऐसी  विपरीत परिस्तिथि में उसे जो कुछ भी प्राप्त
होता है उसी पर सन्तोष करना पडता है |)

Alirayam nalineedal-amadhyagah  kamalanee-makaraand-madaalasah.
Vidhivashaat-paradesha-mupaagatah kujat-pushparasam bahu manyate.

Alirayam = alih +ayam.   Alih = a honey bee.  Ayam =this     Nalineedala =
a group of lotus flowers.  Madhyagah = madhya +gah.  Madhya =middle.
Gah - by entering deep.   Kamalanee= agroup of lotus plants.   Makarand =
juice (honey) of flowers.     Madaalasah =  lazy from drunkenness.
Vidhivashaat = by the quirk of fate.    Paradesham = a foreign or a hostile
country.   Upaagata = entered into.   Kujata=  name of a wild plant .
Pushparasam = nectar of flowers.   Bahu = plentiful   Manyate = considers

i.e.    If a lazy honey bee accustomed to drinking the nectar of lotus flowers of
a large group of lotus plants in a lake , by the quirk of fate has to live in a hostile
foreign country , then it considers even the nectar of the wild flowers of a 'Kujat'
plant as a bounty.

(This Subhashita is also an 'Anyokti'  based on a honey bee.  The idea behind it is
that persons who are accustomed to an easy and expensive lifestyle ,  if through a
quirk of fate they have to face hardships, they have to remain  satisfied on whatever
they are able to get.)
