आज का सुभाषित Today's Subhashita

त्यज  किंशुकपुष्पिताभिमानं  निजशिरसि  भ्रमरोपसेवने  |

विकसन्न्वमल्लिकाविगोयात्कुरुते  वन्हिधिया  त्वयि  प्रवेशम् |-(स्फुट )

              

भावार्थ -    ओ किंशुक (पलाश) के वृक्ष !  अब तो यह  अभिमान  त्याग दे

कि अपने सिर पर पुष्पों के खिलने से अब तू भ्रमरों की सेवा करने के योग्य 

हो गया है | ये भ्रमर तो मल्लिका वृक्ष में   नये पुष्पों के न खिलने के कारण 

उनके वियोग में प्राण त्यागने के लिये तेरे पुष्पों को वनाग्नि समझ कर तुझ
में प्रवेश कर रहे हैं |

(पलाश वृक्ष जब पुष्पित होता  है तो ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि मानो वन में आग 

लगी हो |  इस सुभाषित में मल्लिका वृक्ष के सुगन्धित पुष्पों के अभाव में भ्रमरों 

का पलाश के वृक्ष के पास जाने को अतिशयोक्ति के माध्यम से  उनके द्वारा  

आत्महत्या करने के रूप में चित्रित किया गया है | लाक्षणिक रूप से इस का  यही 

तात्पर्य है कि अभाव की स्थिति में लोग कई बार अपनी आवश्यकता की  पूर्ति के 

लिये गलत साधनों का उपयोग करते है जो उनके लिये हानिकारक होता है |  )

Tyaj kinshuka-pushpita-abhimaanam  nija-shirasi bhramaropasevane.

Vikasan-navamallikaaviyogaat-kurute  vanhidhiyaa tvayi pravesham,

Tyaj =  give up.  Kimshuka= name of a tree having very bright red

flowers, also called  'flame of the forest' .        Pushpita = in bloom.

Abhimaanam = pride.   Nij = one's own.   Shirasi = on the head.

Bhramaropasevane = bhramaro + upasevane.    Bhramaro = large black 

bee.   Upasevane = for serving .  Vikasannavamallikaaviyogaatkurute =

vikasan+nava + mallikaa +viyogaat +kurute.       Vikasan = causing to 

develope.  Nava=new.  Mallika = jasmine flower. Viyogaat = separation

Kurute = does.   Vahnidhiyaa = thinking as fire.   Tvayi = your.

Pravesham =entry.

i.e.     O kimshuka  tree !    On seeing yourself in full bloom,  you should  

shed your pride that you are now fit to serve the large black bees.   These  

bees are thronging towards you for committing suicide due to separation

from their favourite new blooming flowers of  Mallika  (jasmine) trees, by
mistake treating your bloom as a  raging fire in the forest.

(This Subhashita is also an anyokti, The underlying idea of this Subhashita
by using a hyperbole of bees committing suicide,  is that at times due to
non-fulfilment of their desire, people resort to dubious means harmful for
them. )
