आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

पत्रपुष्पफलच्छायामूलवल्कलदारुभिः  |
धन्यामहीरुहा  येभ्यो  निराशा यान्ति नाSर्थिनः ||
                                                 - प्रसंग रत्नावली

भावार्थ -   धन्य हैं वे वृक्ष जो अपने पत्तों, फूलों, फलों ,जडों ,छाल,
लकडी और छाया से प्राणिमात्र की सहायता करते हैं  और उनके पास
से कोई भी याचक निराश नहीं लौटता है |

(उपर्युक्त सुभाषित ' वृक्षान्योक्ति ' का एक उदाहारण है \ लाक्षणिक
रूप से इसका तात्पर्य यह है कि उदारहृदय और सज्जन व्यक्ति अपने
तन मन धन से सभी की सहायता करते हैं और उनके यहां  से कोई भी
याचक निराश नहीं लौटता है |  कहा भी गया है कि  - 'उदार चरितानां
तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम'  | )

Patra-pushpa-phala-cchaayaa-moola-valkala-daarubhih.
Dhanyaa-maheeruhaa  yebhyo  niraashaa yaanti naarthinah.

Patra = leaves.    Pushpa =flowers.    Phala = fruits.    Chaayaa=
shade.  Moola = roots.   Valkala = bark of a tree.   Daarubhih =
wood.     Dhanya = blessed.   Maheeruhaa = trees.   Yebhyo  +
from whom.   Niraashaa = hopelessness, despair.   Yaanti = get.
Naarthinah = na + arthinah.    Na = not.    Arthinah = beggars.

i.e.        Blessed are the trees, who help all the living beings by
providing their leaves, flowers, fruits,roots, bark and cool shade,
and nobody is  returned by them without fulfilling his desire.

(The above Subhashita is  also an 'Anyokti'  (allegory) using
trees as a medium.  The idea behind the subhashita is that like
the trees, noble and righteous persons also help  the needy with
all the means at their disposal and no seeker of help is ever
returned by them without fulfilling his desire.)
