आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

अध्यापनमध्ययनं  यजनं याजनं तथा  |
दानं प्रतिग्रहं चैव ब्राःमनानामकल्पयत्  ||
प्रजानां रक्षणं दानमिज्याध्ययनमेव  च   |
विषयेष्वप्रसक्तिश्च क्षत्रियश्च समासतः ||  -मनुस्मृति (८८-८९)

भावार्थ -  वेदादि स्वयं पढना तथा शिष्यों को पढाना , यज्ञ करना
और यजमानों को कराना , दान देना तथा लेना, ये कार्य ब्राह्मणों
के लिये सृष्टिकर्ता  ब्रह्मा जी द्वारा  निर्धारित किये  गये  }

समस्त प्रजा की सब प्रकार  से रक्षा करना , ब्राह्मणों को दान देना,
यज्ञ करना, वेदादि का अध्ययन करना , तथा विषयों में आसक्त  न
होना, ये कर्म क्षत्रिय वर्ण के लिये ब्रह्माजी द्वारा निर्धारित किये गये |

(ब्राह्मण वर्ग  (जाति नहीं ) का मानव द्वारा अर्जित ज्ञान के संरक्षण
 संवर्धन तथा प्रसार  मे जो योगदान हुआ है  उसी से समाज ने प्रगति
की है | अतः विद्या और बुद्धि संपन्न इस वर्ग को यदि श्रेष्ठतम माना
गया तो यह  उचित ही है |  प्राचीन काल में अत्यन्त सादगी से रहने
वाले इस वर्ग का सम्मान सभी अन्य वर्ग करते थे |  इसी प्रकार क्षत्रिय
वर्ग भी अपनी वीरता के कारण समाज के रक्षक और शासक के रूप में
प्रसिद्ध हुआ |  )

Adhyaapanam-adhyayanam  yajanam yaajanam tathaa.
Daanam pratigraham chaiiva braahmanaamakalpayat.

Prajaanaam rakshanam daanamijyaadhyanameva cha.
Vishayeshcha prasiktishcha kshatriyashcha samaasatah.

i.e.    The God Almighty assigned the duties of  learning Vedas
and other scriptures as also teaching them to others,  performing
'Yagyas' ( religious rituals) themselves and for their subordinates,
receiving and giving donations  to the  community called Brahmins.

           Protecting the citizens in every respect , giving donations,
organising 'Yagyas' , studying Vedas and scriptures,  abstaining
from sensuous way of living , were the duties assigned to people
of Kshtriya category by the God Almighty.

( All the progress the mankind has made is due to the preservation,
and creation of new vistas of knowledge, as also its propagation by
the Brahmin community, who used to live  in a simple and frugal
way and commanded respect from other communities.  So, if this
class of people were considered  as the best it is not an exaggeration.
Likewise , 'kshatriya' (warrior and ruling class) became famous for
their role of protecting the citizens in all respects by governing them.)
