आज का सुभाषित /Today's Subhashita.

भवन्ति नम्रास्तरवः फलोद्गमैः
नवाम्बुभिर्भूमिविलंबिनो घनाः  |
अनुद्धता  सत्पुरुषाः समृद्धिभिः
स्वभाव एवैष  परोपकारिणाम्   ||  -भर्तृहरि (नीति शतक)

भावार्थ -   जब् वृक्षों में फल लगते हैं तो वे फलों  के भार
से झुक जाते हैं , और नये जल से परिपूर्ण बादल भी पृथ्वी
पर बरसने के लिये आकाश में नीचे उतर आते हैं |     इसी
तरह सज्जन और महान व्यक्ति भी समृद्ध होने पर भी
नम्र और सहृदय बने रहते हैं  क्यों कि परोपकार करने वालों
स्वभाव ही ऐसा होता है |

(इस सुभाषित द्वारा  परोपकारी व्यक्तियों की तुलना फल
देने वाले वृक्षों और  वृष्टि करने वाले  बादलों  से की गयी है
जो फलों और जल के भार से ये झुक जाते हैं | वैसे ही सज्जन
व्यक्ति भी धनवान होने पर भी विनम्र ही रहते हैं और सदैव
परोपकार में रत रहते हैं |

Bhavanti namraa-staravah phalodgamaih
Navaambubir-bhoomi-vilambino ghanaah.
Anuddhataa satpurushaah  samruddhibhih
svabhaava evaish paropakaarinaam.

Bhavanti = become.  Namraah = bow down, bent.
Taravah = trees.  Phalodgamah = at the time of
growth of fruits.   Navaambubhih = fresh water.
Bhoomi = earth.   Vilambino = hanging down .
Ghanaah = clouds.  Anuddhataa = humble, polite.
Satpurushaah = noble and righteous persons.
Samruddhibhaih = even during great prosperity.
Svabhaava = temperament, nature.   Evaish =
eva+ esha.         Eva = really.             Esha = this.
Paropakaarinaam = charitable and merciful persons.

i .e.   Fruit  bearing trees when laden with fruits bow
down due to the weight of the fruits, and the rain bearing
clouds laden with fresh water hover in the sky nearer the
earth to pour life sustaining rain to the earth.  In the same
manner  noble and righteous persons also remain humble
and charitable even on becoming very prosperous, because
it is part of their nature to help the needy person

(The noble and charitable persons have been compared with
fruit bearing trees and the rain bearing clouds to emphasize
that even on becoming very rich they remain humble  and
charitable.)
