आज का सुभाषित / Today's .Subhashita.

सुजनानामपि  हृदयं पिषुनपरिष्वङ्गलिप्तमिह  भवति |
पवनः  परागवाही   रथ्यासु  वहन् रजस्वलो    भवति      ||
                                    - सुभाषित रत्नाकर (कल्पतरु )
भावार्थ -    दुष्ट और नीच व्यक्तियों  के  साहचर्य (सोहबत) में रहने
से सज्जन व्यक्तियों का भी हृदय परिवर्तन हो जाता है और वे भी दुष्ट
व्यक्तियों के कार्य में लिप्त (सम्मिलित ) हो जाते हैं |  जब् वायु (हवा)
पुष्पों के बीच से हो कर चलती है तो वह पुष्पों के पराग कणों की सुगन्ध
से भर जाती है परन्तु जब वही वायु  एक भीड भरी सडक के ऊपर से  हो
कर चलती है तो धूल से भर जाती है |

इस सुभाषित में वायु और पुष्पों की तुलना सज्जन व्यक्तियों से तथा धूल
की तुलना दुष्ट व्यक्तियों से की गयी है | इसी भावना को गोस्वामी तुलसी
दास जी  ने इस प्रकार व्यक्त किया है :-
                  ग्रह भेषज जल पवन पट  पाइ कुजोग  सुजोग  |
                  होहिं कुबस्तु सुबस्तु जग  लखहिं  सुलच्छन लोग ||

Sujanaanaamapi hrudayam pishunaparishvangaliptamiha bhavati.
Pavanah paraagavaahee  rathyaasu vahanrajasvalo bhavati.

Sujanaanaamapi = sujananaam + api.    Sujananaam = noble and
righteous  persons.   Api = evn,    Hrudayam = heart.   Pishuna=
wicked persons.      Parishvanga = coming into contact.   Liptam=
joined, associated with.   Iha = in this world.    Pavanah = the wind.
Paraagavaahee = carrier of pollen grains.    Rathyaasu = streets.
Vahan = carry.  Rajasvalo = covered with dust.  Bhavati = becomes.

i.e.    Even the mentality of noble and righteous persons changes in the
company of wicked persons and they also involve themselves in their
activities.  When the wind blows through a bed of flowers it gets filled
with the pollen and fragrance of the flowers, whereas if it blows through
a busy street it gets filled with dust.

(In this Subhashita the wind and flowers are alluded with noble persons
and the dust with  wicked persons.  This metaphor has also been used by
the saint poet Tulasi Das, who says that  Planets, medicines, water, wind,
and clothes become good or bad depending upon the company they keep.)
