आज का सुभाषित /Today's Subhashita.

संतोषाSमृततृप्तानां  यत्सुखं  शान्ताचेतसाम्  |
कुतस्तद्धनलुब्धानामितश्चेतश्च   धावताम्     ||
                                        -  (प्रसंग रत्नावली )

भावार्थ -   शान्त स्वभाव के तथा संतोष रूपी अमृत को पी कर
तृप्त हुए व्यक्तियों को जो सुख प्राप्त होता है , वैसा सुख  भला
धन के लोभी और् उसकी प्राप्ति के लिये इधर उधर भटकने वाले
व्यक्तियों को कहां प्राप्त होता है ?

(यह सुभाषित भी 'संतोष प्रशंसा' शीर्षक के अन्तर्गत संकलित
किया गया है  इस का तात्पर्य भी यही है कि सच्चा सुख अपनी
अपनी इच्छाओं और आवश्यकताओं  को  सीमित करने  से ही
प्राप्त होता है |)

Smtoshaamrutatruptaanaam yatsukham shaantchetasaam.
Kutastaddhanalubdhaanaamitashchetashcha dhaavataam.

Santosha+amaruta+truptaanaam.   Santosha=contentedness.
Amruta = nectar of God.   Truptaanaam = satiated persons.
Yat=  that.   Sukham = happiness.   Shaanta = serene, quiet.
Chetasaam = mind.   Shant chetasaam = persons of serene
and quiet mind.  Kutah + tat+dhanalubdhaanaam + itashcha
+itashcha.  Kutah=where.   Tat=that.   Dhanalubdhaanaam=
persons greedy of wealth.       Itashcha =hither and thither.
Dhaavataam = run

i.e.        How can the pleasure, which persons of serene mindset
derive by remaining contended as if they have drunk the nectar
of Gods, be achieved by  persons greedy of wealth, who run hither
and thither to acquire it by any means ?

(The idea behind this Subhashita is that there is no end to the
desires of men. The real happiness is achieved only when  we
are contended at whatever we possess.)
