आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

दोषाकरोSपि  कुटिलोSपि  कलङ्कितोSपि
मित्रावसानसमये  विहितोदयोSपि    |
चन्द्रस्तथाSपि  हरबल्लभतामुपेति
नैवाSSश्रितेषु महतां गुणदोषशङ्का  ||
                 - सुभाषित रत्नाकर (शार्ङ्गधर )
भावार्थ -    चन्द्रमा यद्यपि आकार में टेढा तथा  कलङ्कित ( काले धब्बों
से  युक्त ) है और अपने मित्र सूर्य के अस्त होने के समय ही उदित होता है,
फिर भी देवाधिदेव शङ्कर का कृपा पात्र है  |  सच ही है कि महान व्यक्तियों
के आश्रितों के गुण-दोषों पर कोई भी शंका नहीं करता है |

Doshaakaropi kutilopi  kalankitopi.
Mitraavasaana-samaye  vihitodayopi.
Chandrastathaapi Haraballabhataamupeti.
Naivaashriteshu mahataam gunadosha-shankaa,

Doshaakaro + api.   Doshaakaro = the Moon.   Api =even.
Kutilo + api.    Kutilo = crooked.curved.   Kalinkito + api.
Kalankito =stained, spotted.    Mitraavasaana =  mitra =
avasaana.  Mitra =a friend.(here the reference is of the Sun)
Avasaan= end, setting of the Sun.   Samaye = at the time of.
Vihit +udayo+ api.   Vihit=fixed, ordained.  Udayo = rising.
Chandrah + tathaapi.    Chandrah= the Moon.   Tathaapi =
even then.   Hara + ballabhataam + upeti.   Hara = Lord shiva.
Vallabhataa =favour, goodwill.    Upeti = acquires.   Naiva +
Aash riteshu.    Naiva=no.   Aashriteshu=persons dependent
on someone.     Mahataam = great persons.  Guna= virtues.
Dosha = defects, shortcomings.   Shankaa = doubt.

i.re.   Although the Moon is curved in shape and also stained,
rises up when his friend the Sun sets, even then he enjoys the
goodwill and favour of  Lord Shiva.      It is true that  nobody
doubts the virtues and shortcomings of  persons dependent on
great and venerable persons.
